About Marcel Boyer - Bilingual Economist and Keynote Speaker:
Marcel Boyer is presently Emeritus Professor of Economics at the Universite de Montreal; Research Associate, Department of Economics, Ecole Polytechnique de Paris; Fellow of the C.D. Howe Institute, CIRANO and CIREQ; University Affiliate of The Analysis Group; Member of the Governance committee of the Sustainable Finance and Responsible Investment
Chairs (ecole Polytechnique de Paris and Universite de Toulouse); Vice-president of the Society for Economic Research on Copyright Issues; Member of the Board of Governors of the Montreal Economic Institute. He is a
bilingual keynote speaker on investment valuation, efficient organizations,
innovation and competition, public policy, and
international law and
economics.
He taught economics at York University, UQEM and at Universite de Montreal. He held the Bell Canada Chair in Industrial Economics in the Department of Economics of the University of Montreal and the Jarislowsky-SSHRC-NSERC Chair in Technology and International Competition of l'ecole Polytechnique de Montreal. He was Vice-President and Chief Economist of the Montreal Economic Institute, President of the Canadian Economics Association (CEA), President of the Societe Canadienne de Science Economique , CEO of CIRANO, Member of the Board of Directors of the National Bureau of Economic Research, and is a member of the National Statistics Council of Canada, the Management Committee of Bell-University Labs,the Board of the Montreal Mathematical Finance Institute. He is also on the Board of Directors of the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada, Chairman of the Board of the Network for Computing and Mathematical Modelling and Visiting Senior Research Advisor for industrial economics at Industry Canada.
Marcel Boyer has received numerous prizes for excellence in academic research including the Alexander-Henderson Award, Prix Marcel-Dagenais, Endowment-for-the-future Distinguished Scholar Award, Fellow of The International Journal of Industrial Organization 1997, Fellow of the World Academy of Productivity Science 2001, and Prix Marcel-Vincent. He is an elected member of the Royal Society of Canada (RSC - The Academies of Arts, Humanities and Sciences of Canada). According to the prestigiousResearch Papers in Economics, University of Connecticut, July 2010 worldwide ranking of economists in terms of scientific production and recognition, Marcel Boyer is among the top 4% (over 25,000 economists registered and ranked, including all the major names of the profession).
