About John Ryding - Speaker on Finance and Economy:
John Ryding is the Chief Economist and Founding Partner of RDQ Economics LLC, an independent economic research and forecasting firm based in New York City. As Chief Economist he is responsible for analyzing and forecasting U.S. and global economic and financial market trends for the benefit of the firm's clients, which include banks, hedge funds, investment companies, and insurance companies both in the U.S. and abroad.
From 1991 through 2008, John worked at Bear Stearns, serving as its Chief U.S. Economist from 2001 until the firm's demise in March 2008. Prior to joining Bear Stearns, John was a Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York from 1989 through 1991 and an Economic Advisor at the Bank of England. John joined the Bank of England in 1980 after graduating from Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge University, England with a B.A. in Economics.
During his time at Bear Stearns, John spoke at numerous client conferences as well as Bear's major conferences including the annual mortgage conference, the interest rate conference, the technology conference, the retail conference, and the gaming conference, as well as at numerous road shows in Europe and Asia.
John is a regular guest on the major financial networks, including CNBC, Bloomberg, CNN, and Fox Business News. In addition, he was a guest contributor to the BBC and has featured in documentaries on the Federal Reserve and the developments in the financial industry after the crisis of 2008 that were made by NHK in Tokyo. He is also frequently quoted by the major financial and economic press and wire services, including the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, the New York Times, and Business Week.
