About Dave Hemstad - Comedic Entertainer & Host:

In 1999 Dave Hemstad was well on his way to becoming a professional golfer when he was struck by something: lightning! He took the hint and by 2000 he had begun his career as a comedian.

Divine providence is usually correct and in 2001, Dave was nominated for his first of two Canadian Comedy Awards. His comedy gained further recognition and he was soon invited to the other side of the world to perform for the president of Singapore. Upon returning to Canada with newfound international acclaim his career skyrocketed.

Dave made his national television debut on CBC at the Halifax Comedy Festival in 2002, and he has returned there to perform three more times. He has performed in the UK and Asia and also on CBC Radio on Madly Off in All Directions. Twice he has been nominated for a Canadian Comedy Award, and in 2003 was voted Best Comedian in Canada” by the Canadian Organization of Campus Activities(COCA).

Dave’s film credits include Shania, Final Draft and the short film Death by Scrabble. He has also appeared on hit TV series such as Billable Hours, Jeff Ltd. And The Jon Dore Show. 2008 marked his first gala performance at the Just For Laughs festival.

His passion remains in performing his comedy in front of live audiences. He has shared the stage with comedians Russell Peters, John Pinette, Emo Phillips, Louis CK, Mike McDonald, Jeremy Holts, Derek Edwards and Gerry Dee as well as Canadian legends, Dave Broadfoot, Gordie Tapp and Ron James.
