The book was named the best self-help book of 2008 by the Independent Book Publishers Association.

Prior to establishing his own firm, John was a senior organizational development consultant for Kaiser Permanente, and Vice President of The Einstein Consulting Group, an international customer service consultancy. He holds a Masters degree in psychology and a Ph.D. in organizational communication.
